The name says it all...
Intertwined By Design
And that's what I believe.  That we are all interconnected and that our interactions with one another are not accidents.  I don't believe in coincidence and I believe that there is a reason for everything, even if it's not readily apparent to us.  That's what I try to portray through the interwoven knot and pattern elements in my artwork.

I believe that art can be a powerful force in our lives.  Whether it's an activity we do simply to relax or we use it as a way to express our inner thoughts, fears, hopes, struggles or dreams, I believe that engaging in artistic pursuits, be they music, sculpture, painting, sewing, writing or any other creative outlet, can help us cope with the rough spots as well as help us celebrate the joys in life.  I believe that everyone can create art and that everyone should be allowed the opportunity to express themselves creatively.

Some of the pieces you see are created through an "ink and wash" technique.  I first design and draw certain elements of the piece with permanent ink.  The pieces are often striking in this black and white state, but they really come alive when painted with rich watercolor hues.  Other pieces are created using colored pencils, glitter, markers, gel pens, colorful, unique papers and pastel chalks.  I usually work in either bright, vivid colors or stark black and white contrasts.

About Me:

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, friend, teacher, student, believer, questioner, dreamer...
I was born in the mountains of North Carolina, attended college at Queens University of Charlotte, and graduate school at Wake Forest University.  I have also received training in Waldorf Education. I have been married to my wonderful, supportive husband for 10 years and we have a vivacious 8 year old son.  We live in New Bern, NC where both my husband and I teach for Craven Communicty College.  In addition to drawing and painting, I enjoy reading, gardening, being outdoors, sewing, knitting, and spending time with my family and friends.
